One Day At A Time

(Listen to this post, here.) Here in New England, there are two ways to know that Spring has finally arrived:   Way #1: It’s going to snow tomorrow. Way #2: The Boston Marathon is just a couple of weeks away. Monday, April 16th, to be exact. And, since my office is located mere feet from the starting line of the race and directly beneath the friendly folks who organize the entire thing, there is a lot of buzz. By which I mean, runners – they are everywhere. I don’t have any actual data (I rarely […] Click to read more…

The World’s Greatest Marketing Tool

(Listen to this post, here.) I have a terrific office. It’s just a few miles from my house. It’s directly across the street from our town’s village green. It’s so close to the starting line of the Boston Marathon, that if I mash my face against the side window (not recommended), I can see the painted start line in the road. It’s also reasonably priced, accessible 24/7, and has plenty of parking. Office space in my town (Hopkinton, Massachusetts) isn’t that hard to come by these days. I see “space […] Click to read more…

You Delight Up My Life

(Listen to this post, here.) Here are the three things I love most about the house we moved into this past July: The sunsets. We are up on a little hill; the field behind us faces west and is wide open. Beautiful, nearly every night. The quiet. The bathroom fans are practically silent. The steps to the basement don’t squeak. The kitchen drawers are unslamable. The size. It’s small. If you can’t find something – a shoe, a hat, a spouse – there are only a couple of possible places […] Click to read more…

Remarkable You

(Listen to this post, here.) My wife, Linda, is tired of hearing me tell this story. Which is precisely the reason I’m about to tell it to you… Back in mid-summer we ordered a new couch for our spare bedroom. A couple of weeks ago, the store emailed to say it was ready and would be delivered that weekend. Sure enough, around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning the doorbell rang. I opened the door and saw a young man standing on our front steps holding the couch. That’s right. A […] Click to read more…

Happy Birthday To Me

(Listen to this post, here.) I had a birthday this past Sunday (not that you bothered to call). And I have to tell you, it was one of the best I can ever remember. It began Saturday night when friends came over for dinner (punctuated by my wife Linda bringing out a delicious chocolate cake). Sunday, we drove into Boston to catch a Red Sox game, happened to run into our friends Tom and Marie while walking through Fenway Park, and agreed to meet up afterwards. At dinner, somebody mentioned […] Click to read more…
