How Much Is Too Much?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The more information you request at newsletter signup, the fewer people who will follow through and subscribe. Unfortunately, it turns out that I’m wrong. For the past 30 days, and using a service called Leadpages (affiliate link), I’ve been experimenting with two nearly identical versions of my newsletter sign up box. Listen To This Post One (Original), asks only for email address (you can see it here). The other (Variation 1), asks for email address, first name and last name (see […] Click to read more…

Timing Is Everything

Let me ask you a question. Are you planning on buying a refrigerator today? How about a phone … or a root canal … or a new pair of underwear? Michael ————————— Q: What are the most useful ways to generate ideas for content or themes […] Click to read more…

Water World

I’ll get right to the point: For the past six months, I’ve been trying to cancel the water delivery to my office – but I just can’t do it. And even though I’ve been getting a five-gallon container delivered every three weeks for the past six years (sorry, too much math?), I just don’t see the need anymore. Not only has the price kept going up, ever since they installed a real kitchen in my office building, I’m no longer faced with having to refill my water glass in the […] Click to read more…
