The Nature Of The Beast

I won’t lie to you – horses kind of scare me. They are just so immense. Of course, there are other large animals out there too. But you don’t often find yourself standing next to them. Or, as happened to me recently, climbing onto their backs and riding them (whose idea was this?). We were out in Western Colorado visiting my wife’s college friend Edie. Edie and her husband, Gary, live up in the hills at about 7,500 feet. They […] Click to read more…

Remarkable You

My wife, Linda, is tired of hearing me tell this story. Which is precisely the reason I’m about to tell it to you… Back in mid-summer we ordered a new couch for our spare bedroom. A couple of weeks ago, the store emailed to say it was ready and would be delivered that weekend. Sure enough, around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning the doorbell rang. Ten years ago, in our next house, he/she stopped coming to the door and, instead, left the mail in a box at the end of the driveway. Today, the mail stops half a mile away, in […] Click to read more…

Blurred Lines

You’ll no doubt be excited to learn that my wife Linda and I successfully moved to a new house last weekend. Our old house was terrific (we’d been there 11 years) but with our youngest son, Jonathan, off to college this fall, we decided it was a good time to downsize. And downsize we did. We moved from a four bedroom, two-story house, to a two bedroom home on just one floor (sorry, too much math?). And let me tell […] Click to read more…
