Marketing Repetition. Repetition.

Repetition is a key element in effective marketing.

Today’s short (two-minute) video clip, starring the perpetually repetitious yours truly, talks about why.

I even reference a renowned scientist and recommend his book, two things which by themselves make this video worth watching!

Michael

As always, great advice and great presentation. I look forward to your Friday visits to my inbox. Thanks.

Someday, could you share with us how you produce your videos?

Hi Bob! Glad you’re enjoying them.

Happy to tell more (i should probably create a video on this), but the short answer is:
- record with iphone (I have a plug in mic that improves the sound quality greatly)
- edit (right on the phone!) using ReelDirector.
- Upload to my YouTube account (again, via ReelDirector).
- Grad the “embed code” from YouTube, drop into my web site (blog) here.
- Email to all subscribed readers like any other newsletter.

The upload from ReelDirector to YouTube is kind of quirky, but eventually works!

Great video, Michael, though I do miss the print. Your advice always seems so common sense, as if “of course I knew that!” but obviously if I did, it was no where I was accessing (or using) it.

Hello Linda!
And don’t worry, the print newsletter will never stop, i just do those full length newsletters every other week and drop these shorter posts in-between.

Always great to hear from you,
Michael

I’ll bet this video was really helpful and informative, but…. I could not hear you. Even with the volume turned all the way up and my headphones on. I even read lips, sort of, but it didn’t help in this case. Could you turn the volume up a bit? Thanks.

P.S. I have a hearing disability, but I have been able to hear most or all of your other talks.

Hi Laurie!
Sorry it was hard to hear. I’ve seen the volume drop a bit since switching to a plug in mic, but plenty loud enough once the computer volume is turned up on the receiving end particularly with headphones on. Maybe you’ve got a setting that you can adjust (I can’t make a change on my end at this point)?

I’m glad you pointed out that the “big bang” (a feature about you in a national newspaper) would be great but is not as effective in keeping you at “Top of the Mind” , as consistent contact through your own newsletter. Makes me think of the “hare and the tortoise” fable – slow and steady wins the race!

Agreed Marnie. I think whether it’s on the topic of getting in shape, building relationships or marketing, we all know that the only predictable and lasting impact comes from the slow and steady.

And thanks for your great tip on adding a “gravatar” (thumbnail photo) to my email address, so that it shows up beside my comments. This is the first time it has shown up for me. Woo Hoo!

Michael, you are getting really good at doing these videos. You didn’t miss a beat in your presentation. And I’m amazed you’re doing it all with your iPhone. I’m thinking about doing some in my own e-newsletter Easy Web Tips (shameless plug): but, unfortunately, I’m limited to good hair days (not a problem that you have). From an SEO perspective and for your readers who are in a hurry, I do think you should add the text of your videos to your post.

Michael Katz June 16, 2012 at 1:32 pm

Thanks Katherine! Yes, the text would definitely help. The problem is that I already write and podcast a full blown newsletter every other week, so I need to keep these other other week posts short and easy to do. I think weekly contact is a good idea for all of us in the business of staying top of mind, but it’s always a balance with the time/effort involved!
You might consider shaving your head too – i think it’s a good look for many women!

Michael, you are cool and I really liked this message about repetition. Not only that, I liked hearing about using repetition in marketing. And, it was cool…
Repetitively yours, Stu

Thanks, Stu, I appreciate that. Plus, that is something I appreciate.

P.S. I’m tempted to repeat this post exactly as is, but I think that would be too annoying. Plus, it might annoy some people.

I think you are cool too, Michael. I can relate to the comment about bad hair days. Maybe I just don’t like how I look on video. H-m-m-m.

Thanks Phil. And if you could let me children know that another human thinks I’m cool, I would appreciate it! Michael
